1898-P VAM-2C Closed 9, Thread-like Impression and Scribbles Cotton Leaves
Discovery 2010 by Pat Mullen
2C III22 - C3a (Closed 9, Thread-like Impression and Scribbles Cotton Leaves) (189) I-2 R-5
Obverse III22 – Curvy thread-like impression at right side of top left cotton leaf and scribbling die scratches below lower cotton leaf.
1. The obverse may also show a small die break just left of the tip of Liberty's bust. This is not significant enough to warrant a separate listing, but can often be spotted earlier than the scratches in the cap. The EDS of this marriage there is no die break, but the thread- like impressions are present.
2. On the VLDS in the last set of photos on this page, it appears the thread is gone or almost gone, but take a look at the wings as they are missing portion of the feathers.
3. Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist.
