1887-P VAM-25 Doubled Right Stars, Hair

Discovered by John Roberts February 2007 on a coin from C. Logan McKechnie. Revised by Scott Hamilton May 2010.
25(revised) III2 24 - C3a (Doubled Right Stars, Hair) (189)
Obverse III2 24- Doubled 1, 3 & 4 plus slightly on 2, 5 & 6 right stars towards rim. Slightly doubled some lower hair strands and left side of designer's initial M. Slightly doubled tops of PLURIBUS towards rim.

Comments:

  1. Exact same pair of dies as those that produced the 1887-P VAM-25A "Donkey Tail".
  2. No sign of an overdate on the right of the 7 as it seems when it develops into the 1A/25A Donkey Tail.
