Comments:
- The VAM-5 is scarce in all grades. The 1878 VAM-5 is an 8 tailfeather coin with the A1c reverse. This reverse is characterized by unique tailfeathers next to the eagle's wings. UNITED STATES OF is also strongly doubled. A good marker for the A1c reverse is a blob of metal at the bottom of the F.
- The A1c reverse is shared by Vams 3, 4, 5, 14-6, 14-7, 14-11, 14-12, 14-14, 14-17, and 14-18. All but VAMs 3 & 4 are major rarities.
